k8sgpt-operator

Chainguard's redistribution of the k8sgpt-operator Helm chart, pre-configured with hardened Chainguard Images.

k8sgpt-operator brings K8sGPT — Automatic SRE Superpowers — into your Kubernetes cluster as a controller, reconciling K8sGPT, Result, and Query custom resources.

Prerequisites

Authentication is required to access this chart and its images. First, authenticate with Chainguard and configure your environment:

chainctl auth login
chainctl auth configure-docker --pull-token --save
helm registry login cgr.dev

Create an image pull secret in the namespace the operator will run in:

kubectl create namespace k8sgpt-operator-system
kubectl create secret docker-registry cgr-pull-secret \
  --docker-server=cgr.dev \
  --docker-username="$(echo cgr.dev | docker-credential-cgr get | jq -r '.Username')" \
  --docker-password="$(echo cgr.dev | docker-credential-cgr get | jq -r '.Secret')" \
  --namespace k8sgpt-operator-system

The upstream chart does not template imagePullSecrets onto the controller pod directly, so attach the pull secret to the ServiceAccount the chart creates:

kubectl patch serviceaccount release-name-k8sgpt-operator-controller-manager \
  --namespace k8sgpt-operator-system \
  -p '{"imagePullSecrets":[{"name":"cgr-pull-secret"}]}'

(Replace release-name with the Helm release name you use in the next step.)

Installation

helm install k8sgpt-operator oci://cgr.dev/ORGANIZATION/charts/k8sgpt-operator \
  --namespace k8sgpt-operator-system \
  --create-namespace
