Impact

EXIF writing in the PNG encoder does not exist in the 6.1 series: libavcodec/pngenc.c contains no EXIF handling at n6.1.6, libavcodec/exif_internal.h is absent, and AV_FRAME_DATA_EXIF does not exist, so there is no mechanism for EXIF data to reach the encoder. Confirmed against the shipped artifacts on both architectures, which emit no eXIf chunk and lack the encoder's EXIF diagnostics; the EXIF strings that are present belong to the mjpeg and webp decoder read paths. The published affected range extending to 8.1.2 is over-broad, as the affected size estimator was introduced upstream in October 2025, after the 8.0 branch point.
