Impact

Remediating this vulnerability requires bumping containerd to v1.7.29, as upstream has proposed for rancher-2.12 in this PR: https://github.com/rancher/rancher/pull/52331. However, these changes introduce API incompatibilities. Upstream maintainers must implement compatibility to remediate.
