Impact

Flaw in the CPython stdlib tarfile module (python/cpython#155999); no dependency to bump. Fixed upstream in GH-156000; 3.12 backport GH-156043, merged 2026-08-20. python-3.12 ships 3.12.14, the latest 3.12 release, which predates the fix. Non-critical severity, so no cherry-pick per patch policy; waiting for the next upstream 3.12 release. See https://github.com/python/cpython/pull/156000
