Impact

The vulnerability is fixed in github.com/elastic/beats/v7 version v7.0.0-alpha2.0.20251209162832-28cfc80d2f4e. However, updating elastic/apm-server to use the patched beats version requires source code changes due to breaking API modifications in beats,including: (1) processing.Supporter.Create now requires an additional *paths.Path parameter (elastic/beats#47353), (2) elasticsearch.ConnectCallback type signature changed to include *logp.Logger, (3) management.NewManager now requires a *logp.Logger parameter, and (4) licenser.FetchAndVerify now requires a *logp.Logger parameter. Upstream need to update to the patched beats version to fix this vulnerability that requires significant code changes.
