Impact

CVE-2026-24401 is unbounded recursion in lookup_handle_cname in avahi-core's browse.c. This package does not contain that code: it ships only libavahi-client and libavahi-common (plus headers, symlinks and pkg-config files for the -dev package), and neither library includes avahi-core or browse.c. Verified by inspecting the shipped 0.9_rc5-r3 files.

The upstream advisory lists only 0.9-rc1 and 0.9-rc2 as affected, with the fix in 0.9-rc3. The detection comes from matching the origin package version.
