Impact

HashiCorp Consul 1.21.x has no upstream CE release containing the fix for CVE-2026-2808 (arbitrary file read via Vault Kubernetes auth provider). The GHSA lists 1.21.11 as the fix version, but this is Enterprise-only with no public tag. The fix commit (hashicorp/consul@7054efd3) was backported to v1.22.5 but not to the 1.21.x CE branch. Cherry-pick is not viable — the accompanying test file (provider_vault_auth_test.go) has diverged significantly between v1.21.5 and main (264 changes), preventing verification that the fix behaves correctly on this stream. Awaiting an upstream 1.21.x CE release or a backport with matching tests.
