Upstream have staged a fix (https://sourceware.org/git/gitweb.cgi?p=binutils-gdb.git;h=7a089e0302382f4d4e077941156e1eaa68d01393) for release in 2.47.

We have cherrypicked that commit to backport the fix into 2.46
