Impact

GitLab pins carrierwave to 1.3.4 via Gemfile constraint ~> 1.3, which only allows 1.3.x versions. The fix requires carrierwave >= 2.2.5 (major version change). Upstream (GitLab master) also remains on 1.3.4. Waiting for upstream to address this vulnerability.
