Impact

Upgrading spring-context from 5.3.39 to 6.1.20 introduces breaking changes:

  • Requires Java 17+ (ontop currently uses Java 11)
  • Spring Boot 2.x to 3.x migration required Workaround: Use allowedFields (explicit list) instead of disallowedFields, or use constructor binding. Open source fix only available in Spring Framework 6.1.20+. Commercial-only fix available in 5.3.43/6.0.28. See: https://spring.io/security/cve-2025-22233/
