Impact

CVE-2026-53495 (GHSA-7jxh-36q5-gcqv) is a goroutine leak in containerd's CRI ExecSync handling that can exhaust memory when exec probes or lifecycle hooks spawn background children. Upstream containerd fixed this in 1.7.35, 2.0.12, 2.2.8, and 2.3.5, but the embedded containerd build vendors a downstream fork that has not yet published a tagged release incorporating the fix; its most recent tagged release remains on the prior patch line.
