Impact

This vulnerability exists in bcpkix-jdk18on 1.79 which is bundled inside the upstream Elasticsearch tarball at lib/tools/security-cli/bcpkix-jdk18on-1.79.jar. As a pre-built binary distribution, the embedded library cannot be updated independently. This requires a new upstream release of Elasticsearch with an updated Bouncy Castle version. Latest Elasticsearch v8.19.14 and v9.3.3 both still pin bouncycastle=1.79 in build-tools-internal/version.properties. Fix version: 1.84.
